Costa Rica Restores and Rejuvenates

Have you ever noticed that when you walk outside near water or in a green forest, you feel more relaxed? There’s a reason for that. Exposure to nature and connection to the natural word has effects on our minds and bodies. Studies have shown that being in green spaces lowers cortisol levels, reduces blood pressure, and calms the mind. Walking in nature can even improve brain functions such as short-term memory and focus. Spending time near or in water has similar effects of reducing stress, providing clarity, and even releasing endorphins.

Despite knowing how good nature is for us, most of us spend far too little time out in nature. There are too many distractions that occupy our time indoors—work, social media, TV, etc. Some of us may not even live close enough to experience dense nature or natural bodies of water on a daily basis. So, vacation can be a perfect time to restore and rejuvenate your mind and body by traveling to a location where you can rest and connect to nature.

Costa Rica is a nature lover’s paradise. There’s lush forests, volcanic mountain ranges, roaring water falls, serene beaches, and so much more. In the midst of all the wilderness, you’ll find communities that live hand in hand with nature and actively work to protect the wildlife and natural ecosystems. While in Costa Rica—especially during our Costa Rica yoga retreat—you are guaranteed to see green lush jungles everyday, hear and see numerous exotic birds, and even see monkeys swinging through the trees or lounging nearby. You will even have the opportunity to explore other areas of Costa Rica for more indulging in nature, such as seeing waterfalls, other beaches, or wildlife tours where you can spot wildlife that tends to be more hidden like sloths.

Every single time I go to Costa Rica, I am in awe of its natural beauty and the untouched feeling the country has. Costa Rica is one of the few countries with a rainforest that is GROWING due to many conservation efforts by the country. It also focuses on water conservation and sustainable energy projects while still providing clean, drinking water to 99% of the country. These conservation efforts ensure that Costa Rica remains wild and protected and reflect that Costa Ricans know and honor what we all know to be true deep down: That nature is vital to life and to our wellbeing.

From my time spent in Costa Rica on yoga retreat, I can tell you firsthand that being in and surrounded by wilderness is truly restorative for the mind and soul. The above photos were all captured by me and they offer a mere glimpse into what it is like to experience the beauty of Costa Rica and its wildlife. What is not shown by these photos is the peace, excitement, and pure joy that I felt in each moment. There is so much more I could tell you about how restorative and rejuvenating a yoga retreat in Costa Rica is, but the only way for you to truly know is to experience it for yourself. Book our Costa Rica yoga retreat with us today and you will be booking the promise of connection to nature and wildlife and giving yourself ample opportunity to soak in the benefits of being in the raw beauty of Costa Rica.
